Love Story In Harvard

This drama has a very impressive plot. I could say that the twists are very interesting. It is a Love Story to the fullest...It's all about love, friendship and redemption. The court scenes in this drama is a highlight and interesting. It's not dragging, it justs keeps better while the story unfolds the mystery n\behind the characters and the story. Kim Tae Hee & Kim Rae Won is really a beautiful couple. Well it's a story with beautiful actors and a beautiful plot.

Here's a gist of the story:(from Wikipedia,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Story_in_Harvard)

Love Story in Harvard (Korean language: 러브스토리 인 하버드) is a romantic 16-episode Korean drama television series broadcast in 2004. It was well-received both in South Korea and throughout East Asia, though many mocked the poor English of the male leads (the female leads speak significantly stronger English).

The story is set at Harvard University and tells of the love between a Harvard Law School student, Kim Hyun-Woo (Kim Rae Won), and a Harvard Medical School student, Lee Soo-In (Kim Tae Hee).

Though the story is set at Harvard University, the series was actually filmed at the University of Southern California and the University of California, Los Angeles.

The story is essentially about the lives of Hyun Woo( Kim Rawe won as Dustin), Jung Min (Lee Jung Jin as Alex)and Lee Soo In(Kim Tae Hae as Allyson). Dustin Woo and Alex Min, both first year law students, are rivals in class and for the affections of Allyson Lee. Alex applies himself more and as such is the favourite of Professor John Keynes ( the strict Law professor) . Dustin, who had a hard time adjusting to the workload in the beginning, falls into the bad graces of the professor. However, Hyun Woo perseveres and eventually wins the respect of Professor Keynes and his classmates. Both men meet Allyson and fall for her. This intensifies the rivalry between them.

The first part of the story is set at Harvard University( its actually in California University since they could not get permission to film it in Harvard)Dustin first saw Allyson in a hotel where he thought she was a prostitute and it was evident from a couple of times he saw her with a couple of men)This makes a confusion with the two. Allyson is a year older in Harvard as a medical student. When Allyson knew about his impression on her, she just acted and let Dustin think who she is until the moment she was hired by Dustin's girl friend to help her in his medical consultation regarding with the case he's studying.Though Dustin was ashamed by the truth, he still need Allyson's help. Eventually Dustin fall for her the same way as Allyson at the course of their study relationship.

However, their relationship is short-lived as Allyson's application to join OEP, an organization that provides medical care to patients in Third World countries, was granted. After their night together, Allyson left Dustin which made him devastated.

The next half of the story was already in Korea after Dustin graduated in Harvard. He is still as idealistic and only accepts cases he believes in. He soon gains a reputation for himself. Alex Jung Min stayed in the US after graduation but now returns to Korea to take on a case. Allyson is also back for 2 months in Korea to conduct some research. And predictably they all meet up again.

Although Dustin was still mad with how Allyson left him, he just can't let allyson go. Alex although was in US was still so inlove with allyson. Before Allyson left for the second time back to her work, they promised each other to wait. Unfortunately, on her way to the hospital, she collapsed and was brought instead to the hospital. At the hospital, Dustin is worried but she lies that she faked her illness because she doesn't want to leave him. This made allyson to stay.

Characters of the story also included Jung Jing Min (as Alex fiancee), Jason ( the American who hired Alex' law firm to defend his International company). Twist in the story goes to when Dustin and Alex met again as they are about to have the same case to defend with regards to the environmental case Allyson Lee is also studying. At this moment, Allyson also learned she was having a Leukemia but chose not to tell Dustin the truth.

As the story revolved, Alex learned about Allyson's illness and tried to tell his defendant jason to find cure for allyson's illness for him to make his case win.

Goong (Palace)...concluded

After watching this series in VCD, all i could say that it's really one of the best k series ever made...excellent set design, interesting plot, gorgeous characters and totally cool concept on constitutional monarchy.

It's a fairy tale love story, alright...but it was classically made! This series has the best on screen kissing scene I've ever seen...passionate and sooo real.

Rumors on the reel & real romance of the series' couple made this much more intriguing that made people anticipating on the second season of this drama.

Hana Yori Dango - Live Action

It's my first attempt in watching a jdorama, and good thing it didn't disappoint me at all. I could say that's it's totally different with Meteor Garden but the plot's almost the same. The Japanese version is much lighter and shorter.

Here's the synopsis of the jdorama from DramaWiki:

Tsukushi is a new student at Eitoku Gakuen - an exclusive school attended by rich families' children. Being poor, she is always bullied and sabotaged by her schoolmates. Things become worse when she crosses the path of F4 (a group comprises of the 4 richest guys). And along the way, she makes friend with Rui, a person who has helped her often, and falls in love with him. Shortly after, her head rival, Tsukasa, also reveals that he likes her. This turn-around situation puts Tsukushi in a very difficult position as she doesn't know what to do.

Japan Fan Meet-Jae Hee & Han Chae Young

Here are some photos of their Japan Fan Meet(photo credits from indosiar & yaplog)...they look good together with new hairstyles! heheheh :D

A news item from KBS:
Actress Han Chae-young and actor Jae Hee, the lead characters of the TV drama "Sassy Girl, Chunhyang," held their first fan meeting at Le Meridien Grand Pacific Hotel in Tokyo on May 1.

Reporting on the fan meeting on May 2, The Sankei Sports introduced the drama as a modern remake of the classic Korean novel "Chunhyang Story." According to the Japanese daily, about 1,200 Japanese fans at the meeting became very excited and gave cheers when Jae Hee ran into the hall.

The daily said that Han, who was visiting Japan for the first time in four years, captivated the heart of attendees by appearing in a white dress that bared her back.

When a large monitor screen at the hall showed a kissing scene from the drama, Han introduced an episode during the filming of the drama, saying, "I feel abashed as I watch it now. During the filming of the kissing scenes, Jae Hee was in a sulk when I didn't open my mouth."

The two stars will return home after having another fan meeting at the same hotel on May 2.

"Sassy Girl, Chunhyang," which is currently being aired on MXTV in Tokyo, will come to a close with its final episode airing on May 3.

A Tribute to Delightful Girl, Choon Hyang

This k-series had really captured my heart. I really love both Mong Ryong and Choon Hyang...how I wish they would make a sequel of this series. I'm really dying to know of what may happen after all the things they went through together. The cameo appearance of MR & CH in the series "My Girl" is really intriguing...undoubtedly they are still the quarrelsome couple but beneath the their petty quarrels is a love unmeasurable for each other. I mean if there's an uproar for Goong's second season...well, why not for DGCH!

I got this translated article from jaehee forums:
june 10, 2005 china daily news

taipei media reports

korea's most well- loved jae hee and han chae young , while shooting their first kissing scene in delightful girl chun hyang, fell unsuspectingly under the pranks of the staff and crew . they made the two lead stars keep on going in their kissing scene even if it was considered as NG already...
korea's hot fever seems to be no letting up, the tv station management decided to invade the saturday golden 10 pm slot. jae hee and han chae young collaborated in the comedy series , delightful girl chunhyang. though faced with stiff challenges against well known superstars, the airing resulted positively and their popularity still continue to rise.
when this campus comedy series was formally announced and casting was still in the works , jae hee and han chaeyoung's youthful vigor fitted the roles right away . when they conducted a survey among the fans on who the most passionate and romantic actor is on their list, one of the name that surfaced, from last year's 3 iron movie, venice film festival's best actor and korea 's blue dragon best new actor awardee, jae hee. the fans thought the lead actor's physical appearance should be somewhat similar to a heavenly god, ( heavenly god in korea and hongkong likewise means megastars ) and should possess the characteristics such as being kind and charming , a semblance of lee byun hyun or bae yong jun more or less. there's also the wide -eyed han chae young, she gained the monicker as barbie doll of korea because she was once the spokeperson of makers of barbie in the united states. the fans also thought she resembles the mainland superstar 黃奕 very much, and has the same elegant built.
jae hee and han chae young's physical appearance blended well on screen, the 2 hit it off instantly during the shoot, creating a deep understanding between the two. they spent hours getting to know each other more. as jae hee discloses, he was intimidated the first time he met hanchaeyoung because of her aura, thinking she was a cold and stiff lady. never thought he would soon get to see her loosen up and be attracted to her vibrant personality, that she and chun hyang are actually both smart and lively.
interestingly, while shooting the kissing scene, the staff were also capturing NG scenes, initailly the two were at the wrong position, and the angle was not right, the director disliked hanchaeyoung's kiss, they found it lacking in intensity, but they actually let the two stars kiss for more than ten times consecutively, to get the the right angle and perfect shot.
jae hee's original schedule of visit to taipei which is in june was postponed to july, he is excited to meet his fans at the said appointed time.

Goong (PALACE)

My current interest is in this new K-series, although I've watched the first eleven episodes and I could say that it's worth watching. It's funny, cute and romantic at the same time. This K-series would most likely appeal to younger audiences since the characters are highschool students. I guess this series has 24 episodes all in all.

Here some info about this k-series: from http://times.hankooki.com/lpage/culture/200603/kt2006030822063811690.htm

In a fantasy MBC drama ``Kung (Palace),¡¯¡¯ modern day Seoul is still ruled by a monarchical government. The heir to the throne is an unhappy prince named Shin-yi, who gives into the ways of royal life while secretly dreaming of becoming a film director.
His life changes when he meets his bride-to-be, a bubbly, high school girl.
The marriage between the two is an arranged affair agreed upon by their grandfathers years before they could have a say in it.

MBC makes the out of the ordinary story of Shin-yi (Joo Ji-hoon) and Chae-kyung (Yoon Eun-hye) work with the help of cinematic imagination for the primetime hit drama.

The exquisite interior design of the set of the modern-day royal palace featured in the production is being credited as one of the crucial factors in the drama¡¯s popularity.

``Palace¡¯¡¯ is currently the second most watched drama on the air.

The drama brings cartoonist Park Soh-hee¡¯s comic book series of the same name, which the series is based on, onto the screen.

Though the piece features a monarchical government and therefore requires many scenes to be shot in quarters likely to have been lived in by a royal family, producers say it was denied permission to enter palaces in Seoul to shoot on palace grounds.

However producers now look back on what was then thought of as a setback and describe it as a ``a blessing in disguise.¡¯¡¯

The series¡¯ artistic director Min Un-ok said while she values the importance of making reference to historical documents, the limitations the drama met in its initial stages gave her the opportunity to ``think out of the box.¡¯¡¯

``It gave me the freedom to go all out with the colors,¡¯¡¯ Min said.

While many have the preconception that Choson Period aesthetics were all about understatement, in actuality they were rich in colors and dynamics, she said.

Min describes the set of ``Palace¡¯¡¯ as a fusion that incorporates traditional Korean decorative styles, which are evident in the windows and walls, and western styles, which are shown with table pieces, upholstery and floral arrangements.

Min is best known for her work in movies. ``Palace¡¯¡¯ is not her first period piece.

She was behind the artist direction of the feature film ``Chunghyang¡¯¡¯ and ``Blood Rain,¡¯¡¯ the latter for which she was recognized with an award at last year¡¯s Daejong Film Festival.

However ``Palace¡¯¡¯ is not the result of Min¡¯s efforts alone. Food stylist Ko Young-wook and hanbok designer Bae Young-jin are two names that have been offering their expertise throughout the series¡¯ two years of pre-production to today.

``Palace'' airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:50 p.m. Out of popular demand, MBC has extended the series run from its original 20 episodes to 24.

The 18th installment will air next Wednesday.

Princess Lulu

This K-series is really enjoyable to watch, although there are quite dragging moments but the characters still make up for it. The story is really amazing, it's about finding your One Great Love and sacrificing everything just to follow one's heart. It's a typical "love conquers all" story, but it has great emphasis one the characters intense and true feelings for each other.

I think Kim Jung Eun never fails to give a comedic effect in the drama, she seemed natural in doing funny stuff effortlessly. It's great that her tandem with Jung Joon Ho is brought back in this series after Marrying The Mafia. They seemed to be a quite endearing couple. I think they also make a good pair, it seems that their feelings are real as if you are not just watching a K-series. Their characters are very firm in their principles and beliefs...and that makes the story soooo GOOD.

My Girl - Cameo Appearance

Whew!!! What can I say??? But their cameo appearance in this K-series is really something to look forward too. I think they have lived up to the expectation of their fans...they're perfectly the same, (although their appearance change...I think they're more mature)the same old Lee Mong Ryong and Sung Choon Hyang. I don't have the latest pics now...but they kinda close to this picture.

How I wish they'll be doing a movie or a k-series again! (*^_^*)

18 vs. 29

This K-series has really made me curious about the characters and its plot. I could never imagine Ryu Soo Young making a hilarious acting. I've always seen him as an actor who portrays serious and refine character.

I've been dying to have a copy of this series...I hope I could watch this soon.
Here's a description of this drama: (http://english.kbs.co.kr/entertainment/news/1347463_11858.html)

The viewer ratings of the KBS miniseries "18, 29" have recorded 18.5 percent, the highest since its debut on March 7 and attesting to the unrivaled popularity of the Monday-Tuesday series. The success of this drama, which is currently in its ninth episode, can be largely ascribed to the impressive acting of its lead actress Park Seon-young, who portrays a 29 year-old housewife who has mentally reverted to an 18 year-old. The drama's lead actor, Ryoo Soo-young, is also highly credited with breaking away from his usually serious image and transforming into a sassy and outgoing character.
In the eighth episode, which aired on March 29, Hye-chan (played by Park Seon-young) learns that Sang-yeong (played by Ryoo Soo-young) has quit his role on a television show because of her, and tries to apologize to him. But contrary to her expectations, the two end up fighting. Just when she feels more frustrated than ever, her "savior" Kim Noon (played by Lee Jung-mun) confesses his feelings for her at a drive-in theater.
Critics say the drama's popularity has soared since two of its male characters -- Hye-chan's husband, who does his best to help his wife recover her memory, and the youthful Kim Noon, who falls for the pure-hearted and cheerful personality of Hye-chan -- started squaring off over Hye-chan, staging a war of love transcending age.
