200 Pounds Beauty

It's been quite late but I would still write my opinion about this k-movie...

This has been the best romance-comedy I've ever seen. I think this movie made a big impression on me about what beauty is. It showed the reality that women are facing; insecurities, self-esteem and real love.

The main character Hanna overcomes all of these circumstances by accepting what she is.
Her transformation from a big fat ghost singer to a sultry diva is very impressing, everything seemed so real! But what is most interesting is how she realized the importance of self-acceptance, family and friends.

Here's a gist of what the movie is all about: (Taken from Han Cinema)

Hanna is a lip sync vocalist for Ami, the famous Korean pop singer. Even though she is always ignored because of her appearance, she has been a bright and lighthearted girl until Amy humiliates her in front of Sang-jun, her secret love. At last she makes a decision of a lifetime to have plastic surgery all over her body. Her unrequited love gets any return?

I think the producers of this movie is thinking of making a sequel for this, check this out:

ArrayIn the midst of sequels being planned for The War Of Flower and Le Grand Chef, there is also a sequel being planned for '200 Pounds Beauty', which reached 6.62 million viewers last year.

The producing group of the movie, KM Culture, has revealed that they are currently making a scenario due to overflowing requests from fans.

Writer Lee Han I, who also wrote the drama "Bodyguard", starring Cha Seung-won, is writing the scenario. The main plot is that Hanna has "yo-yo syndrome". It is expected to contain events that happen to Hanna, who is gaining weight again after turning from a fat woman to a beauty with plastic surgery and dieting.

Writer Lee has added, "The plan is that Hanna will gain weight again but will be recognized as a true singer. But we will add the element of comedy and will highlight the first movie, which was a comedy but had a message to society".

The basic framework is that Hanna, who has become fat again, tries to lose weight, but ultimately realizes that it is talent, not looks, that makes her a true singer.

In reality, there is Big Mama, a group who has earned recognition for their singing skills and not for their looks. Also, SBS entertainment program, 'I Love Sunday' introduced a corner called 'Change', where Lee Hyori transformed into a fat woman, and viewers have said that they felt both the realness and humor of the situation.

The director and main character has not bee settled.

KM Culture says, "Thankfully, Kim Ah-joong has said to tell her first if the scenario for the sequel comes out. There are several actresses other than Kim Ah-joong who are interested in the scenario due to the success of the first movie".
